This Is Music Edinburgh

This is Music is a gig come club night which happens on the 2nd Friday of every month at Sneaky Pete's in Edinburgh. We run from 8pm -3am with a combination of some of the best bands from around Scotland plus guest DJ's from Fast // Fresh Air // I Fly Spitfires // Sicknote // Sugarbeat and more. This Is Music is a night which promotes diversity, and in doing so we aim to bring you something consistantly different...... You can also attend This is Music: London on the first Thursday of every month at the Macbeth in Hoxton! Check out www.myspace.com/thisismusiclondon for details This is our very new, very shiny and very exciting podcast blog, where we hope to give you a monthly taster of what went on at the last This Is Music, along with a sneaky peak of what to expect from the next one. So in 2009, let us welcome you aboard the This Is Music train by bringing the noise both in podcast form, as well as in live form as the first TIM of the year is set to be a noise extravaganza! With live bands from 8pm with.... SUPER ADVENTURE CLUB Super Adventure Club arose from the ashes of The Stepdads to become one of the noisest and most exciting bands to come out of the capital in some time. 2008 saw them release their debut album "Chalk Horror", which was subsequently made album of the month by Vic Galloway on his Radio 1 Introducing show.
We also tipped this band for greatness two years ago in an interview with Fact Magazine, so come along and see how right we were! "Edinburgh's radgest new band... know it’s no fun playing serious music if you have to take it seriously" ... "inventive brilliance" Chalk Horror: "****" -- The Skinny "Super Adventure Club were quite simply one of the most exciting and intriguing Scottish bands I’ve seen in ages.
" -- The Herald "The debut (Chalk Horror) from Edinburgh trio Super Adventure Club is an unpredictable, genre-busting stream of off-kilter noise-terrorism and mind-manipulating media malarky.
" -- The List POPOLO All the way from sunny Dundee we bring you the mighty Popolo. Counting David Shrigley and Errors amongst their fans Popolo bring their own brand of wonk math to This is Music. Set to support 65 Days of Static and Amusement Parks on Fire this band are certainly one to watch for this year.
Then DJ's from 11pm with.... BEARDS OF CANADA (Sicknote) Everyone's favorite Canadians Matt & Rob from Cabaret Voltaire will keep you entertained with their iPod dueling playing everything from Converge to The Constantines! + Whay? // I-Tallah Disco // HP 8pm - 3am (bands at 9pm and 10pm) £2 for the bands // Free entry from 11pm for the club
